Key Moments
  • UMass Lowell took a 9-4 lead with a five-run fifth but the Bulldogs answered right back with a five-run fifth of their own.
How it Happened
  • Bryant scored first in game one as Noriega doubled and scored on an RBI ground out from D'Amico.
  • UML took a 2-1 lead in the second as Carlos Martinez and River Hart hit back-to-back home runs.
  • Trailing 3-1, the Bulldogs tied the game with a two-out rally in the third. Noriega doubled with two outs and Wyers followed with a two-run home run to left center.
  • UML and Bryant then traded runs in the fourth. The River Hawks scored on a two-out double, while the Bulldogs tied the game with a two-out infield single from Cam Papetti.
  • The River Hawks posted their fourth five-run inning against the Bulldogs this season with a five-run fifth, taking a 9-4 lead. The inning opened with a double before Zyons tried to throw the runner out at third on a ground ball. The throw went wild, allowing a run to score. UML then hit a soft ground ball to first that scored a run and was misplayed to put a runner on second. The River Hawks then loaded the bases and Masse plated two with a two-out single. An infield single to short made it 9-4.
  • Bryant answered, however, scoring five times in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. The Bulldogs collected seven hits in the inning, including five doubles. Noriega (1B) and Wyers (2B) opened the inning and D'Amico brought in the first run with a ground out. Durand followed with a ground-rule double to right center and came around to score on a seeing-eye single from Greger to make it 7-9. UML seemed to gain momentum back as it picked off Greger for the second out but D'Amato, Saul and Papetti all stroked consecutive doubles to tie the game at 9-9.
  • The Black and Gold were able to take an 11-9 lead with a pair of runs in the sixth. D'Amico put two in scoring position with a double down the left field line, while Greger (1B) and Saul (HBP) brought home runs.
  • UML took advantage of a two-out throwing error to get back into the game in the seventh. After the throwing error, a slow chopper to third resulted in an infield single and put runners on the corners. A bloop to center followed and Greger nearly made a diving grab but the ball bounced out as he made contact with the ground, plating a run to make it 11-10.
  • Bryant put the game away with three runs in the seventh. Wyers drove in a run with a single, Durand walked with the bases loaded and Greger scored a final run with a fielder's choice.
