Noriega, Papetti lead Bryant past URI, 7-4

Key Moments
  • Bryant took a 2-0 lead just two pitches into the game and never looked back.
How it Happened
  • Bryant grabbed the lead just two pitches into the game. The first pitch of the game hit Zyons on the foot and Noriega ripped the very next pitch to dead center for a two-run home run. A two-out walk to Greger extended the inning and D'Amato tripled to right center to make it 3-0.
  • URI threatened in the top of the second but the Bryant defense stood tall. After a walk and a single, Deitelbaum fielded a bunt and threw to third to get the lead runner. Wyers and Zyons then spun an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play.
  • The Black and Gold extended their lead with a two-out run in the second. Papetti walked, took second on a wild pitch and scored as Noriega singled to right center on a 2-1 pitch to make it 4-0.
  • Noriega made it 5-0 in the fourth as Papetti walked, moved to third on a Zyons double and scored on a Noriega ground out.
  • The Rams plated unearned runs in the fifth and sixth. A throwing error on a stolen base led to a sac fly in the fifth and an infield error allowed a run to score in the sixth.
  • Solo home runs from Brody McKenzie and Rob Butler made it a 5-4 game after 7 ½ innings.
  • Papetti gave the Bulldogs some breathing room in the bottom of the eighth as he crushed a 1-1 pitch 467-feet to dead center for his first-career home run. It gave the Bulldogs a 7-4 lead.
