Bryant faces Maine Saturday afternoon in Orono

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant men's basketball team plays its final regular season road game on Saturday afternoon as it visits Orono, Maine, to take on the Black Bears. Tip is set for 2:00 p.m.

Bryant enters Saturday's game at 12-2 in America East play, one game ahead of second-place Vermont.

  • Bryant owns a 4-2 lead in a series that has been dominated by the home team. The Bulldogs are 4-0 in Smithfield but have lost both of their trips to Orono. 
  • The Black and Gold opened America East play with an 81-55 victory over the Black Bears on Jan. 4. The Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the field and were led by 18 points each from Earl Timberlake and Barry Evans

  • Bryant enters Saturday at 12-2 and in first place in the America East. The Bulldogs hold a 1.0 game lead over Vermont.
  • The Bulldogs have clinched a top-2 seed and will host a quarterfinal game that will take place on Saturday, March 8.
  • Bryant can clinch a share of the regular season title with one win. They will win the title outright with a win and a Vermont loss on Saturday.
BRYANT DEFEATS UMASS LOWELL WITH LATE FREE THROWS
  • Earl Timberlake sank two free throws with 0.7 seconds left to lift the Bulldogs to a 79-78 victory over UMass Lowell on Thursday night. It was Bryant's first win in Lowell at the DI level and first since 2008.
  • Bryant trailed by as many as seven points in the second half before rallying. 
  • Timberlake finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, four steals and three blocks.  
EARL HAS HISTORIC DAY
  • Earl Timberlake's performance on Thursday at UML was the first performance of its type since 2020 and just the sixth time its happened since 2010-11.
  • Timberlake is one of only six players in that span to post 17+ points, 9+ rebounds, 7+ assists, 4+ steals and 3+ blocks. 
FIVE MORE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. Timberlake enters Saturday as one of the leagues premier players, averaging 15.4 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 4.7 apg, 1.7 bpg and 1.0 spg. He has posted 11 double-doubles.
  2. Rafael Pinzon enters Saturday second in the America East in scoring with 18.3 ppg. He is scoring 17.9 ppg in America East play. Pinzon was limited to just six points in 19 minutes vs Maine as he was returning from injury in the first meeting.
  3. Barry Evans posted 10 points and five rebounds despite battling foul trouble at UML. He is now averaging 13.1 ppg in America East play. Evans had a big game vs Maine the first time out, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists and four steals.
  4. Kvonn Cramer had a big night in Lowell, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. He is now averaging 7.1 ppg and 4.4 rpg in America East play.
  5. Bryant enters Saturday ranked 3rd nationally with 5.9 blocks per game. That number jumps to 7.0 blocks per game in America East play.
