ORLANDO – A pair of eighth-inning unearned runs was the difference as UCF earned a 4-2 victory over the Bryant baseball team on Saturday night at John Euliano Park.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 1-3 on the year. Bryant has surrendered the lead in the eighth inning or later in all three losses this year.
On Saturday, Bryant fought back to tie the game at 2-2 in the seventh thanks to a UCF error. In the eighth, back-to-back two-out errors extended the inning for the Knights. A two-run double followed and gave UCF the 4-2 lead.
Gavin Greger and
Justin Hackett each had two hits for the Bulldogs.
Michael Belcher delivered four innings of two-run ball, while
Mark Scamardella,
Sean Zaslaw and
Bradley Lewis combined for 3.1 scoreless innings of relief.

How it Happened
- Bryant got on the board, scoring in the second. Brandyn Durand singled, stole second and advanced to third on a bunt single by Greger. Hackett brought Durand home with a sac fly to center.
- UCF grabbed a 2-1 lead with solo home runs in the third and fourth.
- It remained that way until the seventh. Hackett singled to start the inning and moved up on a sac bunt. With two outs, Cam Papetti's pop up behind first dropped, allowing Hackett to score from second.
- In the eighth, Bradley Lewis and Alex Slotter recorded the first two outs of the inning. A throwing error and a fielding error extended the inning. Prevesk then doubled home both runners to make it 4-2.
