SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Mimi Rubino, Nia Scott, Mia Mancini, and Maranda Nyborg all reached double-figures in the Bryant University women's basketball team's 71-50 season-opening victory over Central Connecticut.
 
Rubino and Scott led the way with 15 points, while Mancini and Nyborg each tallied 13.
 
The Bulldogs held CCSU to 0% shooting in the fourth quarter en route to the victory.

How it Happened

• The Blue Devils jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game.
• The Bulldogs would respond with an 8-0 run in the next two minutes, highlighted by a Martina Boba corner triple off the dish from Rose Nelson, forcing a CCSU timeout (16-12).
• The first quarter ended with an 8-4 Blue Devils run, resulting in a 24-16 deficit for Bryant after one.
• Both teams tallied six points in the first six minutes of the second quarter, with Mimi Rubino scoring all six for the Black and Gold (30-22).
• The Black and Gold outscored CCSU 6-5 for the remainder of the half.
• The Bulldogs started the second half on fire, producing a 7-2 run that cut the Blue Devils' lead within two, with six minutes left in the third quarter (37-35). Nia Scott recorded her eleventh point of the game during the run.
