BRYANT DOWNS MERCY WEDNESDAY AT THE CHACE

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant men's basketball team built a 42-17 halftime lead and cruised to a 87-61 victory over Mercy on Wednesday morning at the Chace Athletic Center.
 
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 2-5 on the year. Bryant returns to the road this Saturday, traveling to Cambridge, Mass., to take on Harvard. Tip is set for 2:00 p.m.
 
Quincy Allen led four players in double figures with 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. Timofei Rudovskii added 11 points, while Ty Tabales and Lennart Weber each finished with 10. Bryant shot a season-best 50 percent from the field and posted 22 assists on 30 made field goals.

How it Happened
  • Weber was the go-to early for the Black and Gold posting six points in the first six minutes as Bryant built an 11-6 lead to open the game.
  • Sanford helped the Bulldogs push the lead to 10, 22-12, with a pair of strong right-handed finishes at the rim.
  • Bryant then turned to Tabales as it pushed its lead to 32-12 with 4:15 left in the first half. Tabales scored seven straight points for the Bulldogs, starting with a coast-to-coast finish that included an ankle-breaking behind-the-back dribble at half court. He followed with a triple from the top and then hit a 15-foot jumper from the left.
  • The seven points were part of a 16-0 run in which the Bulldogs held Mercy 0-of-10 from the field over a five-minute stretch.
  • Allen put an exclamation point on a strong first half as he flushed home an alley-oop with a reverse dunk on a lop from Tabales.
