BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Bryant men's basketball team held Virginia Tech to nearly 20 points below its season average and trailed by just six late in the second half before succumbing to the Hokies, 78-61, on Wednesday night at Cassell Coliseum.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 1-4 on the year. Bryant wraps up its three-game road trip on Sunday when it heads to Hartford, Conn., to face No. 3 UConn at 6:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, Bryant led for over 14 minutes in the first half before a late run put the Hokies ahead for good. The Black and Gold would pull within three early in the second half and were within six with 6:47 to go before the Hokies pulled away.
Quincy Allen led for Bulldogs in double figures with 13, including a highlight-reel alley-oop windmill dunk that will go down as one of the top dunks in college basketball this season.
Keegan Harvey added a career-high 12,
Timofei Rudovskii posted 11 and
Jakai Robinson chipped in 10.

How it Happened
- Allen swished an early three to give Bryant the first points in what was a low-scoring affair to start.
- Virginia Tech would take a brief 4-3 lead at the 15:59 mark before a Rudovskii bucket at the 15:14 mark gave Bryant a lead that it would hold until 4:14 mark.
- Lennart Weber knocked down a three from the top to make it 12-8 before the Hokies tied it at the 10:11 mark.
- Robinson followed with a pair of strong finishes at the rim to give Bryant a 16-12 lead with 8:53 left.
- Sims then backed his man down in the post to finish and make it a 20-17 game with 5:14 left.
- The Hokies, however, would answer with a 13-0 run over the next three minutes to grab a 30-20 lead. Bryant went 0-for-3 from the field and turned the ball over three times.
- A perfect pick-and-roll from Rudovskii and Keegan Harvey stopped the run and a pair of Rudovskii free throws pulled Bryant within eight, 32-24, at the break.
- Harvey started the second half with back-to-back triples to pull Bryant within three, 38-35, with 17:11 to go.
- The Hokies would then push the lead to 10 before an offensive putback by Sims and a fastbreak basket from Allen made it 58-52 with 6:47 left.
- Virginia Tech, however, would score the next seven points to rebuild a 13-point edge and led by double digits the rest of the way.
