ORONO, Maine  – The University of Maine scored six unanswered goals to earn a 6-1 victory over the Bryant field hockey team on Friday afternoon.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 3-10 overall and 0-3 in America East play. Bryant closes the weekend on Sunday afternoon at Brown.

• The Black Bears scored a pair of second-quarter goals to erase Bryant's early 1-0 lead.

First Quarter

• The Black and Gold got on the board first, converting on a penalty corner. Lauren Rothwell's shot found the stick of Natalie Griffin who was able to redirect it past the goalie.

Second Quarter

• Maine scored a pair of goals six minutes apart in the second quarter. Saylor Kuefler raced down field ahead of the Bryant defense before dishing off to Emily Chisholm for the empty-net goal.
• Nicole Kowalewski fired home a penalty corner to give the Black Bears a 2-1 lead.

Third Quarter

• Taylor Katsube pushed Maine's lead to 3-1 with a goal in the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter

• Eloise Penty, Katsube and Zoe Furber scored just over a minute apart in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Bryant Notes and Notables

• Maud van Lierop posted 12 saves for the Bulldogs.
• Griffin's goal was her second of the season and the ninth of her career.
• Rothwell notched her second assist of the season.
