WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL CONTINUES DOMINANCE AT HOME WITH SWEEP OVER BINGHAMTON

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant volleyball team continued their stretch of dominance at home on Sunday afternoon, sweeping the Binghamton Bearcats in conference play to earn their fourth straight home victory.

"Great team win! Our serve receive was excellent, allowing Madison Koeller to spread out offense out. Nina Gavin, Arianna Ugolini, and Brookelyn Talmadge were consistent and aggressive and put the ball away in pressure situations."

"The one-two punch with Claudia Camacho-Castro and Carrina Barron in the back row together is really paying dividends for us."

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • SET 1 – The Bulldogs edged the Bearcats 25-21 in the first set. Both teams traded punches in the set as it got off to a 10-10 tie, with Ruth Ochelli chalking up a trio of kills. The set continued to be a back-and-forth battle, with the score being tied at twenty a piece, highlighted by four kills from Arianna Ugolini. Bryant closed the set on a 5-1 run to win the first set 25-21, powered by a pair of kills from Brookelyn Talmadge and a kill and an ace to seal the set from Arianna Ugolini.
  • SET 2 – Bryant cruised to a 25-16 second set victory. The Bulldogs took control of the set, racing out to the 14-7 lead, led by a pair of kills from London Hunt and a service ace from Madison Koeller. Bryant then stretched their lead to 21-13, led by a pair of kills from Brookelyn Talmadge, service ace from Arianna Ugolini, and a combined block by Brookelyn Talmadge and Kaitlin Curran. The Bulldogs then polished off the set as Arianna Ugolini and Kaitlin Curran each pounded a kill to put Bryant up 2-0 in sets.
  • SET 3 – The Bulldogs carried over their momentum from the previous two sets into the third. Bryant jumped out to a 9-3 lead, highlighted by a dominant stretch of play from Nina Gavin, piling up four kills and a service ace. The Black and Gold continued to thrive offensively, going up 18-11 powered by Arianna Ugolini, Brookelyn Talmadge, and Nina Gavin, combining for six kills. The trio continued to be the engine for the Bulldogs offense, combining for five more kills to earn the 25-18 third set victory and the sweep over Binghamton.
