BALTIMORE, MD  — The Bryant University women's soccer fell to UMBC , 2-1, Sunday afternoon.

Words from Coach Biggs:

"It was a game of two halves today," Coach Biggs said.

"We were less confident with the ball than usual - especially in the first half when we struggled to connect passes and build an attack.  Having the wind at our backs helped in the second half, and we put UMBC under pressure for the whole half but taking more risks with our runs, dribbles and passes around the edge of their box would've helped us to create a few more quality chances to score."

  • 6th minute: UMBC's Payton Schenning opened the scoring with a strike from just outside the box, assisted by Delainey Proctor.
  • 36th minute: Reagan Casper doubled the Retrievers' lead, bending one inside the far post off a corner kick.
  • 72nd minute: Luke capitalized on a UMBC miscue, winning the ball back and catching the keeper off her line to put one in the back of the net for the Bulldogs.
Game Notes:
  • Luke led the Bulldogs with three shots, including her team-leading third goal of the season.
  • Bryant was outshot 17–7 but held UMBC to just two attempts in the second half.
  • Mejia made four saves in the first half, while Selena Negron played a clean second half in relief.

Bryant returns home Thursday night to face New Hampshire. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Smithfield.
