Bryant travels to Baltimore to face UMBC on Thursday; Game to be televised on ESPNU

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant men's basketball team heads on the road and will look to continue its winning streak when they take on the UMBC Retrievers on Thursday night. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m.

Thursday's game will stream on ESPNU. The Bulldogs will try to move to 7-0 in league play. They most recently beat Binghamton at home on Saturday.

THE SERIES
  • The Bulldogs are 2-3 all-time against the Retrievers and are 2-2 at the Division I level.
  • Bryant won both of their matchups against UMBC last season. Their last meeting in 2024 saw Bryant narrowly win by a score of 99-95.
BULLDOGS BEAT THE BEARCATS
  • Rafael Pinzon dropped his 3rd 30 point game of the season and Earl Timberlake had a double-double as the Bryant Bulldogs beat the Binghamton Bearcats by a final score of 83-69 on Saturday, Jan. 25.
  • The Bulldogs held an 8-1 advantage in blocks against the Bearcats
  • Timberlake would record his 7th double-double of the season after posting 10 points and 12 boards.
PINZON'S 30 PIECE
  • Rafael Pinzon recorded his 3rd 30 point game of the season on Saturday and his first since returning from a lower body injury on Jan. 4.
  • Pinzon led all scorers with 30 points and hit 4-8 3pFG. He also posted four rebounds, and a block.
  • Pinzon is 22nd in the nation in 3p percentage, hitting at (46-106) 43.4% from beyond the arc. 
FIVE MORE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. The Bulldogs are currently averaging 5.8 blocks per game which is the 6th best of any Division I team so far this season. Bryant has three games this season with 10 or more blocks. They most recently blocked eight shots against Binghamton on Jan. 25.
  2. Bryant is off to their best start in league play since joining the America East in 2022. The last time they started 6-0 in conference was 2012-23 when the Bulldogs were still in the NEC.
  3. Baltimore native Barry Evans will look to continue his hot start to league play on Thursday night. Evans is currently averaging 14.5 ppg and 6.3 rpg in six America East contests. He had 10 points and five boards against Binghamton last weekend.
  4. Keyshawn Mitchell got back into double-figures on Saturday against Binghamton registering 11 points and four rebounds. Mitchell now has eight double-figure scoring games in his career; all of which have come this season.
  5. Bryant saw five players finish in double-figures on Saturday. The Black and Gold are currently 7-0 in games where they have had five or more double-figure scorers.
