Volleyball to host Stonehill for 2024 home opener

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball team will face off against the Skyhawks of Stonehill College on Wednesday September 4th at the Chace Athletic Center. The Bulldogs enter this match at 2-1 on the season after picking up wins over Florida Atlantic and Seton Hall at the FAU invitational this past weekend.

Bulldog Notes and Notables
  • After being limited to only one match last year due to injury, Fabi Castro did not miss a beat in her return to the floor. The fifth year right side hitter earned All-Tournament team honors after posting 21 kills, 26 digs, 5 aces, and 4 blocks through 11 sets. Castro is set to appear in her first home match at the Chace since November of 2022.
  • Following the departure of Josie Deluga, Barron stepped up nicely as the Bulldogs new starting libero. In Bryant's first match of the season against Florida Atlantic, Barron had a double-double with 19 digs and 16 assists. Barron would finish the FAU Invitational with a final line of 37 digs, 21 assists and a service ace.
  • Carolina Camacho also had a stellar start to her season in Boca Raton. In her season debut vs FAU, she recorded a double-double with 22 assists and 17 digs. Against Seton Hall, Camacho had 17 assists and 4 service aces; 3 of which came in consecutive order and helped power the Bulldogs past the Pirates.
  • Bryant saw excellent play from their middles in their win over Seton Hall to close out the weekend. London Hunt and Brookelyn Talmadge combined for 19 kills and 5 blocks in the Bulldogs sweep of the Pirates.
  • After finishing the weekend 2-1, Theresa Garlacy is now only 2 wins away from 600 in her college coaching career.
Scouting the Skyhawks
  • Mia Berardino and Georgia Murphy have headlined Skyhawk offense early in 2024 as the pair has combined for 65 total kills through the team's first three matches.
  • On the defensive side, Emma Graves and Abby Farrell are tied for the team leadmin block with 6 each. Senior libero Bianca Fitch, is the team leader in digs with 23.
  • Farrell also is the Skyhawks leader in service aces with 9 so far this season.
  • Abby Parnell has been the main facilitator of Stonehill's offense this season with 66 assists (6.00 a/s).
  • The Skyhawks are led by head coach Craig Martin. He is currently in his fifth season at the helm.
