Volleyball to open conference play against NJIT on Friday, Will face Dartmouth on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball is set to host both NJIT and Dartmouth College this weekend at the Chace Athletic Center. The Bulldogs will officially open conference play against New Jersey on Friday and will battle the Big Green in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon.
Bulldog Notes and Notables
  • The Bulldogs are back in the win column after defeating the Central Connecticut Blue Devils this past Tuesday. Prior to dropping two out of their last three matches at the Kaiser Classic, the Black and Gold had been on a 7 game win streak.
  • Aubrey LaPour and Arianna Ugolini are both in the top three in the America East for kills in 2024. LaPour is second with 199 and is averaging 3.32 k/s. Ugolini ranks third with a total of 165 kills and averages 3.37 k/s.
  • Ugolini has also excelled in the service game so far this season. Through 49 sets played she has posted a league leading 27 aces and has an average of 0.55 sa/s.
  • Brookelyn Talmadge and London Hunt both are in the conference top ten for blocks. Talmadge is 7th overall with 44 total rejections (0.90 b/s) and Hunt is 8th with 39 total blocks (0.81)
  • Carolina Camacho has recorded a double-double in five of her last six matches. She also has tallied at least 10 assists in all of Bryant's games this season.

Scouting the Highlanders
  • Bryant is 5-1 all-time against NJIT. Bryant won their home matchup against the Highlanders in straight sets thanks to a  great offensive display by Aubrey LaPour, Arianna Ugolini, and Morgan Smith
  • Freshman Ema Torres has had a dominant start to her collegiate career as she currently lead NJIT in kills with 110 (2.39 k/s).
  • NJIT will pose a significant threat on the defensive front as two of their blockers are in the conference top ten for total rejections this season. Ines Varela is second in the league with 68 total blocks (1.03 b/s) and Taylor West is sixth with 48 (0.92).
  • Sara Siefert leads the Highlanders in service aces with 20 (4th in America East).
  • NJITis coached by Pedro Trevino, he is in his fourth season with the team.
