COACH GARLACY'S COMMENTS
"Credit to Merrimack for making a valiant defensive effort. They challenged us to up our game and change some shots.  With tough serving and some big swings at crucial times we pulled out the win. It's always good protecting the Chace."
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Set 1- Merrimack came running out of the gates early on in the first set; scoring the first three points of the match. The Bulldogs would soon settle in and would manage to even the score at 4-4. The two sides would then enter into a stalemate, as neither team would be able to grow a lead. This would all change when Merrimack would get out to a narrow 11-10  advantage. The Black and Gold would counter by rattling off eight straight points to lead 18-11. This boost would prove crucial as Bryant would go on to win the set 25-18. Aubrey LaPour had six kills in the set. Brookelyn Talmadge would have three blocks.
  • Set 2- The second set would play similarly to the first with Merrimack going up early and Bryant answering back. This time though,  it would be the Warriors who would benefit from a late surge as they would go on a  9-2 run to close out the set; winning  25-19 and evening the score at 1-1.
  • Set 3- The third set would see Bryant take control early, getting out to a 7-0 lead thanks to service aces by Arianna Ugolini and kills by Brookeyln Talmadge and Nina Gavin. The Bulldogs would carry that momentum throughout the set and would withstand a late surge by Merrimack to win 25-18 and go up 2-1. Ugolini and LaPour would combine for eight kills in the third set with Ugolini also landing an additional four aces.
  • Set 4- The fourth set saw Merrimack close the competitive gap once again as they would manage to get within one point of the Bulldogs lead, however Bryant would hold strong and outlast the Warriors winning the fourth set 25-23. LaPour would tally another five kills for the Black and Gold as Brookelyn Talmadge would record a pair of blocks.
