Bulldogs Take Down Iona At Home

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Jorge Rodriguez's first career goal set the tone for the win tonight as the Bulldogs earned a 3-1 victory over Iona Tuesday night at Beirne Stadium.

Bryant is now 3-0-1 for this season.

Game Information:

Quote From Head Coach Ruben Resendes:
"Iona is a very good team. We knew we were going to have to defend a lot because of how well they keep the ball but our guys were resilient with their defensive pressure which led to us taking over the game eventually and imposing our usual style of play. In the end, I felt the difference between the two teams came down to our subs, who continuously help us change each game with great energy, quality and loads of confidence."

Key Moments:
Jorge Rodriguez scored his first ever collegiate goal in the first half of the match, catching the Iona goalie off guard with a low right shot to the net.
• Sophomore, Cristian Guirado collected his first ever goal as a Bulldog as he rifled it into the net the second half of the match.
• Defender, Kerman Sukia had a successful penalty kick in the second half.
Antreas Hadjigavriel secured crucial saves for the Bulldogs, warding off a couple shots from Iona.

Game Notes:

• Bryant is now 1-0 all-time vs. Iona.
• Bryant's Jorge Veintimilla and Filippo Censini both picked up yellow cards during the match.
Marc Pitarch Bayot shielded off a defender before playing a perfect ball to Guirado earning the assist on Guirado deciding goal.
