Key Moment

  • With four minutes remaining in a 35-35 game, the Bulldogs drove down the field and scored on 4th down courtesy of a 30-yard Ruggieri touchdown. The Black and Gold defense then stopped the Bears on 4th down by way of an Elliott sack fumble to seal the victory.

How it Happened

  • The Bulldogs began the game's first drive with four consecutive plays to Fabrice Mukendi, including a 17-yard reception for Mukendi to get the Black and Gold to mid-field. Guest then found Ruggieri on a 23-yard pass to the 20-yard line. Then, on 4th and long, Guest rolled out to the right and launched a ball to the right corner of the endzone, which Doe hauled in for the touchdown (7-0).
  • The Bears then scored their first points of the game on a 10-play drive, capped off by a one-yard rushing TD (7-7).
  • Brown began the second quarter with the ball, drove down the field, and scored on a one-yard rushing TD to take the lead (14-7).
  • On the ensuing drive, the Bulldogs led an eight-play drive, which saw a Keylijah Williams 14-yard rush on a reverse and an 18-yard TD pass to Ruggieri, who leaped over the defender to secure the touchdown (14-14).
  • Bryce Soli then made two field goals within the last two minutes of the half, giving Bryant a 20-14 lead at halftime.
  • Both defenses stood strong to start the third quarter before the Bears led a nine-play drive that landed them on the one-yard line off of a 44-yard pass before Brown punched it in from the one to regain the lead (21-20).
  • The Bulldogs began on offense with two minutes left in the third quarter. After a first down sack, Guest found Ruggieri on third and long to continue the drive, which resulted in a 38-yard touchdown to Ruggieri, giving Bryant the lead (27-21).
  • Brown responded on the ensuing drive with a 58-yard screen pass that resulted in a touchdown, giving the Bears a one-point advantage (28-27).
  • The back-and-forth final quarter continued as the Bulldogs turned to Kedzior, who, on the next drive, tallied 14 yards on the first two plays and, then, after a 15-yard Ruggieri catch, bounced to the outside for a 46-yard rushing touchdown. Bryant then went for two, which was converted by a Guest rush up the middle, increasing the lead to seven (35-28).
  • The Black and Gold defense responded as the Bears went for it on 4th and 5 and were stopped by a blitz from Sean Hunt.
  • After a Bulldogs three and out, Brown drove the ball 78 yards for the score, giving Bryant 4:28 left on the clock with the game tied at 35.
  • On the 3rd and seventh of the next drive, Guest hit Ruggieri for a 24-yard gain and a first down, placing the Bulldogs on the Bear's 36-yard line. Doe then caught a TD pass, which was called back due to offensive pass interference, making it 2nd and long. After a five-yard scramble he found by Guest, he found Ruggieri for 16 yards, resulting in 4th and fourth.
  • Guest then launched a ball over the top of the secondary that was hauled in by Ruggieri for a 30-yard touchdown, giving the Black and Gold a seven-point lead with 1:45 remaining (42-35).
  • Brown then drove to the Bulldog 25-yard line but was stopped on 3rd and ten, setting up fourth down. Elliott then released free off the edge, hitting the quarterback, resulting in a sack-fumble and securing the victory for Bryant.
