Volleyball to host Binghamton in Friday night showdown

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball team returns home this Friday and will take on the Binghamton Bearcats at the Chace Athletic Center.  First serve is set for 7:00 pm.

The Bulldogs entered this weekend in a four-way tie for first place in the America East Conference. Bryant Binghamton, New Hampshire, and UMBC all are 4-2 in conference play so far this season. UAlbany is also in the hunt at a game and a half back at 3-4.

Bulldog Notes and Notables
  • Bryant is 7-5 all-time against Binghamton and are 4-4 at the Division I level. When the two sides faced off earlier this season in Vestal, the Bearcats would come away with the victory in four sets. 
  • Last time out in Smithfield, the Bulldogs would pick up the victory in a five set thriller that would help clinch them a spot in the America East Conference Tournament
  • Carrina Barron was named America East Defensive Specialist on October 29th. In two matches last week she would average 4.0 digs per set. In the Bulldogs four set victory over NJIT, Barron would finish with 20 digs. Barron currently leads the America East in total digs with 359 and is second in average digs per set with 3.90.
  • Aubrey LaPour remains second in the America East for total digs this season with 286 (3.40/s).
  • Fabi Castro would have a phenomenal week for the Black and Gold. In the team's win over NJIT she would finish with a final line of 19 kills, 10 digs, 5 blocks, and 4 aces. Castro would also have a great outing in the Bulldogs midweek matchup at Fairfield; finishing with 11 kills, 4 aces, and 3 blocks.
  • Arianna Ugolini is second in the conference for service aces this season with 38 (0.48/s).
  • The Bulldogs saw a number of players reach career milestones last week. Carolina Camacho became just the fifth player in Division I program history to eclipse 1,500 assists. Arianna Ugolini would also record her 600th collegiate kill and Madison Koeller would tally her 500th career assist.
Scouting the Bearcats
  • Since their last match against Bryant, the Bearcats have gone 2-1 against America East opponents (2-3 overall); earning wins over NJIT and UAlbany.
  • Tsvetelina Ilieva has continued her dominant run with the Bearcats and enters Friday as the conference leader in kills with 402 (Next closest: Aubrey LaPour, 286). Ilieva also leads the America East in service aces with 40 (0.48/s).
  • Junior setter Lottie Scully was named the Week 9 America East Setter of the Week. Scully would average a league best 10.3 assists per set and tally 31 assists in the Bearcats 3-0 victory over UAlbany. Scully currently leads the America East in assists this season with 702 (8.36/s).
  • Misa Dlouha leads Binghamton on the defensive side and is 2nd in the conference for blocks this year with 104 (1.24/s). 
  • Emily Cronkhite is the Bearcats leader in digs with 260 on the year (3.10/s).
