SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant men's basketball alum Charles Pride was acquired by Raptors 905 on Saturday during the NBA G League Draft.
A 2023 graduate of Bryant, Pride was originally drafted in the 2nd round (39th overall) by the Austin Spurs before being acquired by Raptors 905. Pride becomes the first men's basketball player to be drafted in the NBA G League.
Pride enjoyed an incredible four-year career with the Black and Gold, helping the Bulldogs win the 2022 Northeast Conference Championship and advance to March Madness for the first time in DI program history. He graduated from Bryant fourth in DI program history in scoring (1,528), second in rebounds (750), sixth in assists (250) and first in steals (144). Pride's finest season came in 2021-22 as he averaged 17.7 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 2.4 apg and 1.6 spg in leading the Bulldogs to March Madness. He teamed with Peter Kiss to form the highest-scoring duo in college basketball and set the Bryant DI single-game record with 44 points in a win at Saint Francis U.
Following his graduation in 2023, Pride transferred to St. Bonaventure, close to his hometown of Syracuse, N.Y., for his final season of eligibility. Pride then earned a spot on the Charlotte Hornets NBA Summer League roster.
