SMITHFEILD, R.I. - Goals from Whitney Vaillant and Catie Bean led Bryant women's soccer to a shutout victory over UMBC Thursday evening. This is the Bulldogs first win over UMBC.

•  UMBC's Lauren Reid is given a yellow card resulting in a free kick for Bryant right outside of the 18. Catherine Bean performed the free kick for Bryant, sending the ball right above the goalie's reach and into the top right corner of the net to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.

Scoring Summary

• 5th minute - Bryant 1, UMBC 0 - Bryant's Whitney Vaillant was credited with the first goal after performing a header off of a corner kick from Madison Luke. The ball ricocheted off of the goalkeeper's gloves and into the goal.

•  78th minute - Bryant 2, UMBC 0 - Catie Bean scored off of a free kick as the result of a yellow card given to the Retrievers. Bean kicked the goal from just outside the bottom left corner of the box and it found the top right corner of the net.
