Bulldogs earn dominant victory at Stonehill

EASTON, MASS. – The Bryant University basketball team picked up the wire-to-wire road win against Stonehill, defeating the Skyhawks 69-49.

Mia Mancini and Mariona Planes Fortuny lead the charge for the Bulldogs, tallying 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Nia Scott scored eight points and hauled in nine boards; the Black and Golds defense had nine steals and outrebounded Stonehill 36 to 30.

How it Happened

  • The Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the game's first five minutes. Mancini hit two from deep, Fortuny, Kemari Reynolds, and Nia Scott.
  • The Skyhawks closed the first quarter, outscoring the Black and Gold 8-7, resulting in a 19-13 first-quarter lead for Bryant. Fortuny dominated the remaining five minutes, tallying five, along with a Megan Bodziny mid-range jumper.
  • Martina Boba took control early in the second quarter, converting back-to-back layups, one on a dish from Alejandra Ferreirós and one on a steal and finish (23-15).
  • Bryant's defense took hold to finish the half, with Boba scoring five, Reynolds registering consecutive layups, and Mancini hitting two more from deep, compared to the Skyhawk's ten points (38-25).
  • The Bulldogs came out on fire, earning an 11-4 advantage to begin the second half. Mancini drilled her second three, Fortuny posted four, Silvia Gonzalez converted a fastbreak layup, and Nia Scott scored off an offensive board (49-29).
  • Bryant kept their foot on the gas, going on an 11-6 run to end the third quarter. Nia Scott scored four points in succession, Gonzalez hit a three, and Reynolds and Boba scored on layups (60-36).
  • The Bulldogs finished the game with a 69-49 victory.
