Bulldogs fall to Brown on Friday night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's basketball team fell to in-state rival Brown, 72-60, on Friday night at the Chace Athletic Center.

Brown opened up a 20-point halftime lead to end the Bulldogs' four-game winning streak.

Charles Pride led four double-figure scorers with 15, nine rebounds and three assists. Antwan Walker and Earl Timberlake each had 12, while Sherif Gross-Bullock finished with 10. Timberlake matched Pride with nine rebounds.

How it Happened

  • Brown got off to a quick start on Friday, scoring the first nine points, before Pride canned a pair of free throws at the 16:47 mark.
  • An Aaron Cooley three with 14:00 left pushed the Bears lead to 15, 20-5.
  • The Black and Gold used a 7-2 run to pull within 14 but the Bears responded with a 14-4 run to take a 42-18 lead with 2:45 left.
  • Hawkins IV provided a spark off the bench late, collecting a basket in transition and a pull two for his first points in the Black and Gold.
  • Bryant was able to open the second half on a 7-0 run, bringing the Chace Athletic Center to life. Gross-Bullock drilled a three and Walker finished inside to force a Brown TO.
  • The Bears, however, were able to push the lead back to 16, 47-31, at the under-16 media TO.
  • Bryant was able to whittle the deficit to nine, 61-52, on a one-handed slam from Gross-Bullock with 4:18 left.
  • Kino Lilly Jr., however, hit a pair of big shots to increase Brown's lead and the Bears went on to win by 12.
