SMITHFIELD, R.I. – For the second time in the last three seasons, the Bryant University women's soccer team clinched a spot in the Northeast Conference women's soccer tournament with a 2-0 victory over Wagner on Senior Day Friday.

"I thought our team played with great balance between attack and defense today, and showed great composure to see out the game. I'm very happy for the team as qualifying for the NEC Tournament is a just reward for all of their hard work."

  • Sophomore Remi Manna (Pleasantville, N.Y.) started the scoring for the Bulldogs in the 55th minute, finishing off a scrum in the box and giving Bryant a well-deserved advantage in the match.

  • 55th minute – Bryant 1, Wagner 0 – Senior Alyssa Riccione (Mohnton, Pa.) played a cross into the box for Alison Guilmette (Coventry, R.I.), whose initial shot was blocked. Manna then came in and was able to fire the shot into the bottom left hand corner.
  • 67th minute – Bryant 2, Wagner 0 – Freshman Amanda Spitaleri (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) made it 2-0 when she flicked a header over the goalkeeper and the ball rolled into the net to seal the victory.
