Box Score SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior captain Elena Lohr (Loveland, Ohio) served up a career-high nine aces to set a Division I program record and added four kills, eight digs and two blocks to lead the Bryant University volleyball team to its first Northeast Conference victory of the season, 3-0, over St. Francis Brooklyn on the road Sunday afternoon.
Lohr's nine aces tie for fifth on the all-time single-match performance list and fourth all-time in a three-set match. Sophomore outside hitter Claire Van Dyk (New Richmond, Wis.) paced the Bulldog (3-15, 1-1 NEC) offense with a match-high 12 kills while serving up the team's remaining two aces on the day. The Terriers (5-14, 1-1) were held to a pair of aces and committed 10 service errors on the contest.
Bryant senior Alexandria Clyburn (Cartersville, Ga.) posted another strong outing in the victory, registering 10 kills and a side-best .533 attack percentage, complimented by a trio of blocks. Frosh Sara DePouw (Oconto, Wis.) also had an impressive hitting day, picking up eight kills on 11 swings for a .455 attack percentage. She added a team-leading four blocks to her effort.
Senior libero Mikayla LaRosa (Marysville, Wash.) paced the match with nine digs, while sophomore setter Jana Kmec (Stratford, Conn.) more than doubled the total of her St. Francis counterpart with 33 assists in the three-set match.
The hosts were led by seven kills from Domenique Gerard and six more from Niehely Sosa. Jillian Tracy paced the match at the net with five stuffs, while Feliz Ramirez led the Terriers on defense with seven digs.
As a team, the Bulldogs hit at a .238 percent clip with 38 kills, 31 digs and 7.5 team blocks. The Black and Gold return home to kick off a seven-match home stint on Tuesday, Oct. 1, hosting Dartmouth at the Chace Athletic Center at 7:00 p.m.
