Box Score PAIR OF GOALS FROM SANDERS LIFTS WOMEN'S SOCCER
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Suzanne Sanders (West Chester, Pa.) scored a pair of goals and senior Lauren Viverito (Dayton, N.J.) posted her first shutout of the season as the Bryant University women's soccer team defeated Delaware St., 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
The Bulldogs (1-3) outshot the Hornets (0-2) 18-3 in the contest and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks on the way to their first victory of the season.
Bryant wasted little time getting on the board Sunday as Sanders potted her first goal since Sept. 11, 2011 in the fourth minute off an assist from senior Ari Goldberg (East Bridgewater, Mass.). Sanders capped the scoring in the 81st minute with her second goal of the afternoon.
The Black and Gold's defense did the rest, limiting the Hornets to just three shots. In earning her first victory of the season, Viverito was forced to make just two saves in net.
Bryant returns to action on Friday, Sept. 6 when it hosts Rhode Island. First kick is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
