BULLDOGS SET FOUR RECORDS, WIN TWO MEDALS ON DAY ONE OF ECACs

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bryant University men's swimming team set nine school records and claimed two bronze medals on day one of the ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Bulldogs accumulated 80.5 points on the first day of competition in Annapolis and are currently in seventh place out of 14 teams. The U.S. Naval Academy holds a commanding lead after one day with 210.5 points.
It did not take long for the Bulldogs to nab their first medal of the meet as the 200 free relay team earned a bronze medal with a school-record time of 1:23.81. Alex Kosenski (Lavallette, N.J.), Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.), John Lawson (Bernardsville, N.J.) and Tim McGrath (Hyannis, Mass.) combined to earn the Bulldogs the relay medal. Kosenski finished his night strong as he claimed Bryant's second medal of the meet with a third-place finish in the 50 free. He touched the wall with a school-record time of 20.85.
The Black and Gold also set program marks in the 500 free and the 400 medley relay. Swimming in his first ECAC Championships, freshman Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) set a new mark in the 500 free, finishing with a time of 4:44.13. Bryant's 400 medley relay team of Cameron Hessler (Southbury, Conn.), Beck, Lawson and Kosenski finished sixth with a time of 3:25.29, breaking the school's fourth record of the evening.
Day two of the ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, with finals set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
