Bulldog's now 8-8 on the year and visit Navy this weekend
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team made it two wins in-a-row behind a solid team effort in picking up a 7-0 win over Holy Cross Wednesday afternoon in Worcester, Mass. The win gets the Bulldogs back to .500 for the season at 8-8.
After taking the doubles point to open the match, the Bulldogs looked strong throughout singles play. Sophomore Claudia Hidalgo earned a straight-set win at No. 1 singles followed by sophomore Lucy Bird, who was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Carolyn Chandley at No. singles.
Freshman Stephanie Smyers rallied back after dropping the first set to Emily Marr 6-2, to win the second 6-2 and the third set by a score of 6-1.
May Vickers, Valeria Couto Cuervo and Irma Rodriguez Lockwood rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs who will travel to Annapolis, Maryland this weekend to face Navy on Saturday and Norfolk State on Sunday.
