Game Notes / Live Stats / Radio
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After dropping the Northeast Conference
opener to Central Connecticut last Saturday, the Bryant University
football team (3-1, 0-1) will travel to Staten Island, N.Y.
Saturday, Oct 2 at 1 p.m. to face league rival Wagner College (1-2,
0-1). Both programs enter Saturday's contest winless in Northeast
Conference play and look to get back on track after losing in Week
3.
The Bulldogs' conference tilt with Wagner can be heard on WOON
1240 AM with John McCarthy calling the play-by-play and Pete Royce
providing in-game analysis. Fans outside of the listening area can
hear all of the action live at www.bryantbulldogs.com. Links for both audio and live stats
are available on the Bryant Athletics website.
Saturday's meeting marks the third all-time between both
programs, as the Bulldogs lead the series 2-0. Bryant's
latest victory against Wagner came on homecoming in 2009, 6-2, in
front of 3,200 rain-soaked fans. The Black and Gold's first
Division I victory came at the hands of Wagner in 2008, as the
Bulldogs defeated the Seahawks 24-14.
Bryant looks to earn its first road win of 2010 after starting
the season 3-0 at home. The Bulldogs are averaging a
league-leading 39.5 points per game and have generated a 90.4
percent red zone conversion rate through the first four
games. Jordan
Brown continues to lead the NEC in rushing yards
per game (136.2) and touchdowns (8), having started the season with
four-straight 100-yard games. Defensively, senior linebacker
Jason
Riffe currently leads the Bulldogs in tackles (45),
sacks (3.0) and tackles for a loss (5.5) after a school-record 17
tackles against Central Connecticut in Week 4.
Wagner was selected to finish fourth in the NEC after posting an
overall record of 5-6 and finishing league play at 5-3 in
2009. The Seahawks fell to fellow NEC member Robert Morris
last Saturday, 31-9.
