BRYANT UNIVERSITY FIELD HOCKEY DEFEATS COLGATE, 2-0
Boxscore
SMITHFIELD, RI - Katherine Andrusin scored five minutes into the
contest and Elise Boissoneau added a goal in the 55th minute as the
Bryant University field hockey team picked up its second win of the
season by downing visiting Colgate, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at the
Turf Field Complex.
Bryant (2-5), looking to avenge last year's 5-0 loss to the
Raiders, took a quick 1-0 lead as Andrusin tipped in her second
goal of the season off a penalty corner just 4:45 into the
game. Emily Charpentier blasted a hard shot that found its
way to Andrusin's stick in what would prove to be the eventual
game-winner.
Midway through the second, the Bulldogs got an insurance goal on
transition, but this time it was Andrusin who helped set up the
score.
After a Colgate (1-8) turnover near midfield, the sophomore from
North Andover countered with a strong rush down the left sideline
and sent a low centering pass in front of the Raider net, where
Boissoneau was waiting, ready to deflect the pass by goalie Sarah
Pedersen. The score would seal Bryant's 2-0 win, giving the
Bulldogs a perfect record at home.
Bryant outshot Colgate, 18-4, in the game behind a contest-high
five from Andrusin. Katelyn Nerbonne recorded a trio of the
Raiders' shots on the day.
The Bulldogs next take to the field Sunday when they will travel
to Dartmouth for a 3 p.m. game against the Big Green.
