WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS FINAL GAME OF TOURNAMENT 2-1 IN
OVERTIME
WASHINGTON, D.C.- After falling to Georgetown Friday afternoon
to open the season, the Bryant University women's soccer
team responded with a strong effort Sunday against American
University only to come up short in falling to the Eagles 2-1 in
overtime.
The lone goal and first of the Bulldogs' 2009 campaign was
scored by freshman Morgan Derick (Ashland, Mass.)
in the 60th minute off a long shot from straight away. Senior
goalkeeper Katie Mitchell (Deer Park, N.Y.) had
four saves in the game and closed out
the tournament with 16 total saves.
Bryant starts its season 0-2 but will look to capitalize on home
field advantage when they host the University of Hartford Sunday,
Sept. 6 at 3:30 p.m.
