1-1
TEANECK, N.J. - After playing 110 minutes, the Bryant University
women's soccer team tied Northeast Conference opponent Fairleigh
Dickinson 1-1 on Sunday afternoon in a rainy Teaneck, New Jersey.
The Bulldogs (3-9-1, 1-4-1) scored early in the second half but
could not hold off the Knights (2-11-1, 0-5-1) for the full 90
minutes as they netted a late goal in the second half. Bryant
sophomore Kaitlyn Hinck (Bow, N.H.) scored the
only goal of the game for the Bulldogs in the 48th minute when
Hinck and teammate Jennifer Harding (Lancaster,
Mass.) connected on a give and go. After sending a pass to
Harding, Hinck got the ball back and was able to shoot the ball
into the upper left corner of the net from inside the 6-yard box.
Bryant held off the Knights until the 82nd minute when FDU's
Jennifer Arceneaux was able to score the equalizer. Arceneaux took
a shot from approximately 30 yards out from the left side and was
able to kick the ball into the upper left part of the goal over the
outstretched hands of senior keeper Katie Mitchell (Deer
Park, N.Y.) Mitchell recorded four saves on the day.
Despite eight total shots between the two overtime periods,
neither team was able to net the game-winner. The Bulldogs outshot
the Knights 20-10.
The squad returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 21 when it
travels to Boston, Mass. to take the Boston University Terriers at
4 p.m. The Terriers participated in last season's NCAA tournament.
