BULLDOGS DROPPED BY COLONIALS, 3-0,
IN CONFERENCE PLAY SATURDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University volleyball team
couldn't shake their fourth-straight loss Saturday afternoon,
falling to Northeast Conference opponent Robert Morris, 3-0,
despite a match-best 11 kills from sophomore Maria Scocca
(Melrose, Mass.).
The Bulldogs (5-15, 0-2 NEC) fought hard against the Colonials
(6-14, 3-0) and got double-digit kills from Scocca to go along with
two blocks and a pair of aces, but would ultimately fall to the
home side in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-22), dropping to 0-2 in
conference action.
Freshman Macy Mitravich (Waimanalo, Hawaii) and
sophomore Jazmin Stoner (Durango, Colo.) each
chipped in six kills to help pace Bryant offensively, while
Mitravich helped junior libero Robyn Gardner (Longwood,
Fla.) lead the squad on defense, each recording a
team-high nine digs on the afternoon. Rookie Jadith Lorenzo
(Lawrence, Mass.) collected 15 assists on the day.
The Bulldogs got seven service aces, two apiece from Scocca,
Stoner and Mitravich, and 10 total blocks on the day, led by three
from Hawaii native.
Robert Morris was paced by 10 kills from Amanda Graham and 26
assists from Alyssa Bennett. Graham would also collect eight of the
team's 10 stuffs on the day. Corinne Moser led the match
defensively, recording 12 digs.
Bryant will remain in Pennsylvania for a final weekend match
against Saint Francis (PA) Sunday at 1 p.m. as the Bulldogs
continue to look for their first conference win.
