Bryant vs. PC

Bryant vs. Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. - Led by a double-double from sophomore setter Miranda Kolb (Holt, Mich.) in the nightcap of a two-win day, the Bryant University volleyball team swept its second-straight weekend tournament, beating Providence College, 3-0, and host Holy Cross, 3-1, Saturday in the final day of the Crusader Classic.

Kolb's 43 assists and 13 digs against Holy Cross in the second matchup sealed the deal for her all-tournament team accolade, complimenting a 37-assist match against Providence College (6-5) in the 4 p.m. contest. On the day, she totaled 10 blocks (2 solo, 8 block assists) and four kills.

Also big on the day were the trio of stellar freshmen. Jazmin Stoner (Durango, Colo.) earned 24 kills on the day, including a team-high 15 in the 3-1 nightcap win over host Holy Cross (1-8). Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.) recorded 23 kills of her own, with a team-high 12 against Providence College, to go along with four total service aces (three in game one) and seven block assists.

Rookie Hilary Andrews (Tipp City, Ohio) added 19 kills to her season total as well, registering a pair of service aces of her own.

In addition to standout performances from the freshmen, sophomore Adrienne Boss (Dracut, Mass.) added another 16 kills in the Bulldogs' set of wins.

Bryant, now 8-2 on the season, dropped just one set on the day, winning the other six handily in the two-match sweep.

After starting the season with 10 road matches, the Bulldogs now finally return to Smithfield, R.I. to host future Northeast Conference rival Sacred Heart University, Tuesday, Sept. 16 in the Chace Athletic Center in Bryant's home opener. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
