#7 Bulldogs Take Care of Tough Purple Knights

COLCHESTER, Vt.- On a sub-freezing, windy afternoon on Duffy
Field at Doc Jacobs Complex, the Bryant University men's lacrosse
team took an 8-5 decision over the Purple Knights of St. Michael's
College. Tied at the half, the Bulldogs used a strong third period
in which they outscored the Knights 4-0 to put the game away.
The Purple Knights jumped out to a 3-2 lead and peppered Bryant
goalkeeper Michael Kennedy (Port Jefferson Station,
N.Y./Comsewogue) with 13 shots in the first period. The
senior stopped 15 shots, eight coming in that first period.
For the Bulldogs offensively, junior Bryan Kaufmann
(Putnam Valley, N.Y./Mahopac) led all scorers with five
points on four goals and one helper. Classmate Kevin
Hoagland (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) tallied two
goals and two assists, helping Bryant improve to 9-0 all-time
versus the Purple Knights.
Jim Long (Durham, NH) and Matt
McKeefrey (Melville, NY) added a goal apiece for the
Bulldogs, with Long also adding an assist.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday with a Northeast-10
matchup with Merrimack. The game will be played at Gillette Stadium
