HANOVER, NH - Led by 24 kills over two matches from freshman
Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.) Saturday, the Bryant
University volleyball team split its matches at the Robert Morris
Tournament, topping Saint Francis (NY), 3-0, before falling to host
RMU, 3-1, in the nightcap.
Scocca led the Bulldogs in both contests, recording 10 kills in
the win over the Terriers (0-21), with 14 more coming against
Robert Morris (12-6). The rookie also recorded a team-high seven
blocks on the day (2 solo, 5 block assists).
Senior co-captain Delia Glover (Marston Mills,
Mass.) registered 44 digs on the day to lead the Bulldogs
(12-8), while freshman Hilary Andrews (Tipp City,
Ohio) totaled 15 kills with 17 digs and a team-best five
service aces.
The first contest saw Bryant take an easy 3-0 win from Saint
Francis (NY), the Bulldogs' third such win of the season. The
Terriers never got within 10 points in any set.
The nightcap brought stiffer competition to the court for the
Bulldogs, who took the first set, 25-22, before falling in
three-straight closely contested games.
The Bulldogs stay in the Keystone State for their next matchup,
a 1 p.m. contest against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday, October 5.
