NEWARK -- The Bryant University volleyball team takes its 15-13
record on the road for one final away tournament in 2008,
travelling to Newark, N.J. for the NJIT Halloween Classic Oct. 31
and Nov. 1.
The Bulldogs will face off against two new teams in Howard
University and NJIT, while also matching up with a more familiar
foe in Providence College.
Bryant starts tournament play on Friday with a 5 p.m. bout
against Howard (13-16). The Bison are led by Gazelle D'Artois,
who paces the team with 313 kills and 80 total blocks on the
year. Howard is 1-1 against Northeast Conference teams with a loss
to Robert Morris and win over LIU.
The Bulldogs are 2-0 against the Friars (13-13) this
season, and will face them again on Saturday, Nov. 1 in a 10 a.m.
contest. Providence College is led by 296 kills from Elizabeth
Flynn and 274 from Jeanette Toney. Toney also leads the Friars in
blocks with 65.
Bryant will round out tournament play with a contest against
host NJIT, Saturday at 12 p.m.
