BRYANT STUMBLES AGAINST DARTMOUTH,
FALLS, 7-1 WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

HANOVER, N.H. - Despite a goal from junior Kelly Frantz
(Southbury, Conn.) - her first of the year - the Bryant
University field hockey team struggled against a tough Dartmouth
team, falling, 7-1, Wednesday afternoon.
Frantz's goal came with a shot into the upper right corner of
the cage in the 15th minute, cutting the lead of the Big Green
(4-9) to 3-1, but the Bulldogs (1-14) wouldn't be able to find
another score despite 13 shots, seven of them on goal. Junior
Caitlan Johnson (Walpole, Mass.) got the helper on
the Bulldogs' lone goal.
Kelly Hood led Dartmouth with a hat trick on the day, while
Ashley Hines chipped in a goal and two assists of her own. The Big
Green took the edge in shots, 33-13, and penalty corners, 7-3.
Senior goalkeeper Kundayi Mawema (Harare,
Zimbabwe) and her freshman counterpart Jennifer
Gullotti (Waltham, Mass.) split time in goal for the
Bulldogs, recording four and seven saves, respectively. Dartmouth
goalkeeper Meagan Vakiener made six saves on the afternoon.
The Bulldogs return to action Friday, Oct. 24, when they face
off against Towson at 7 p.m.
