BRYANT UNIVERSITY SWEEPS
UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN IN NON-CONFERENCE WOMEN'S
TENNIS
WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The Bryant University women's tennis
team swept University of New Haven in a non-conference matchup
Sunday at Painter Park, 9-0.
Bryant dropped just 24 games in the nine matches to improve to
2-1 this fall in head-to-head competition. Chelsea Downing
and Michelle Burke scored wins at first and second singles over
Sarah Lefler and Kristina Bensley, respectively, and teamed
together to beat those same two opponents at first doubles,
8-1.
The day's most competitive matches came at fourth and sixth
singles, where UNH freshmen Chelsea Annese and Alison Mahony were
ahead in the first set before ultimately falling by identical 6-4,
6-4 scores.
