ASSUMPTION DEFEATS BRYANT WOMEN 79-49
Northeast-10 Conference Women's Basketball

WORCESTER, MASS. - Assumption junior guard Bethany Plasski (Fall River, MA) scored 24 points and senior forward Sara Czarnecki (Cumberland, RI) added a career-high 12 points as the host Greyhounds rolled to a 79-49 win over visiting Bryant Wednesday night at Laska Gym.  The win improves the Greyhounds to 6-2 overall on the season (2-1 in the Northeast-10).  Bryant drops to 2-2 on the year and 0-2 in conference play.

Despite a strong start to the game, the Bulldogs struggled offensively, shooting just 22 percent from the floor and turning the ball over 20 times.  A Courtney Schermerhorn three-pointer from the top of the key knotted the game at 10-10, but from there, the Bulldogs went ice-cold from the field, making just one basket in the final 12 minutes of the half in falling behind 33-21 at the break.  A Stephanie Fontaine (Franklin, Mass.) bucket in the lane with 22 seconds left was the Bulldogs first field goal since Schermerhorn's three with 12:30 left.

The Bulldogs pulled to within 38-27 following a jumper from Adrienne Mayshar (West Boylston, MA) and basket by Jamie Campbell (Springfield, MA) early in the second half.  But Assumption countered with a 13-2 run to pull ahead 51-29 and were never threatened. 

The Bulldogs finished the game shooting 24 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 31 times. O'Keefe was the only player in double figures, finishing with 10.  Plasski was 8 for 17 from the floor and made 5 of 6 free throws. 

Bryant will return home to host UMass Lowell this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chace Athletic Center.
