Halftime - Bryant 2-0

SMITHFIELD, RI -Michael Gargiulo scored what would prove to be the game winner in the 61st minute as the Bryant University men's soccer team would hold on for a 4-3 Northeast-10 Conference win over visiting Merrimack College at a warm and humid Bulldog Stadium Saturday afternoon .

Bryant raced out to a 4-0 lead on the visiting Warriors but gave up three Merrimack goals - all from junior Tiago Dalboni - within a six-minute span but were able to hold on for the win. The Bulldogs got a pair of first half goals to take a 2-0 halftime lead.  Jordan Martin got things rolling with his first career goal in the 14th minute. Martin, a native of Bristol, CT picked up a loose ball following a scramble in the goal box and beat Jason Baker to put Bryant up 1-0.

Thomas Nelan would make it 2-0 with a header in the 40th minute after Erik Lekstrom sent in a perfect cross following a free kick.

Kyle Tierney would make it 3-0 Bryant with a pretty goal early in the second.  After the Bulldogs were awarded a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box, the Bulldog senior tucked a precise shot around the Warrior wall and into the top left corner for his second goal of the year.

After Gargiulo's goal, the Warriors would get on the board as Dalboni was taken down in the box and awarded a penalty kick with 16:17 left in the game.  Thirty-nine seconds later it was Dalboni once again, answering with a goal to make it 4-2 with 15:38 left.

Dalboni would make it a one-goal game with 10 minutes left but the Bryant defense would stiffen and hold on for the win.

The Bulldogs will host Felician in a non-conference game Monday (1 pm).
