BRYANT ADVANCES TO NORTHEAST-10 SEMIFINALS WITH
2-0 WIN OVER UMASS LOWELL
SMITHFIELD, RI - The second-seeded Bryant University women's
soccer team shut out seventh-seeded UMass Lowell, 2-0, in Sunday
night's Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinal at Turf Field. With
the win, the nationally ranked No. 8 Bulldogs will host Franklin
Pierce in a conference semifinal on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6 pm at the
Turf Field Complex.

The Bulldogs went up early with the game's first goal off the
foot of sophomore Holly Tyser (Somers, Conn.) from
an Amy Orzechowski (Milford, Conn.) cross just
9:55 into the opening half. The score remained 1-0 into the second
frame, when senior tri-captain Diane Pascale
(Plymouth, Mass.) found the back of the net and sealed the River
Hawks' fate in the 53rd minute with her fourth goal of the season,
pushing the score to 2-0. Junior Alaina Iannazzi
(Methuen, Mass.) notched the helper.
Bryant outshot UMass Lowell an impressive 20-3, putting 13 shots
on River Hawk goalkeeper Jamie Gillis (11 saves). Junior goalkeeper
Jessica Clark (Barnstable, Mass.) made a trio of
saves for her seventh shutout of the season for the Bulldogs,
upping her record to 8-0-2. Orzechowski registered a game-high five
shots, three on goal, to lead Bryant to the victory.
Bryant moves to 17-0-4 overall with a 12-0-3 NE-10 mark, while
UMass Lowell finishes its season at 11-8-1, 6-8-1 in conference.
Game time for Thursday's semifinal is to be announced.
