Bryant Men's Basketball Defeats
Assumption College 77-67
WORCESTER, MASS. - The Bryant
University Men's Basketball team snapped a three-game road losing
streak with a 77-67 defeat over Assumption College Tuesday night at
the Laska Gym.
Senior guard Chris Burns (Merrimack, NH)
jumpstarted the Bulldogs scoring the game's first six points on two
three-pointers and finished with team-high 17 overall and five
shots from behind the arc.
Assumption cut the lead to 72-65 with less than a minute to play
after Burns and Nate Sudlow (Brooklyn, NY) were
whistled for consecutive offensive fouls. But that was as close as
they would get as Sudlow converted two free throws to make it a
nine-point game.
Bryant took a 41-28 lead heading into the half, behind 11 points
from Jon Ezeokoli (South Orange, NH). The Bulldogs
shot 57% from the field in the first half on 16-of-28 shooting.
Two consecutive baskets from Jerrann Wright (Cincinnati,
OH) the Bulldogs the 37-23 lead with 2:30 to play in the
first half. Bryant converted an 8-0 run, forcing the Greyhounds to
call two timeouts within one minute.
Bryant edged the Greyhounds despite playing the majority of the
second half with four players on the bench with four fouls,
including Wright, who finished with 14 points before fouling out
with 1:47 to play.
The Greyhounds struggled from the line converting only 13 of 26
shots.
With the victory, the Bulldogs swept the season series from the
Greyhounds. They defeated Assumption 62-48 earlier this season in
Smithfield, RI.
Bryant (9-5, 7-4 NE-10) returns to the Chace Center Thursday,
hosting Pace University in a game that will be televised by Cox
Channel 3, in tape delay this Friday at 8 p.m.
