Smithfield, R.I. - The
Bryant University Field Hockey team continued its winning streak,
defeating Assumption College 1-0 Saturday afternoon at the Bryant
Turf Complex.
Shana Libman (Attleboro, Mass.) scored the
game's only goal, in the second minute, taking a Laynie
Sadler (Rehoboth, Mass.) feed and shooting it over
Greyhounds goaltender Brandi Guertin, who had fallen to the ground,
trying to make the save.
The goal was Libman's fourth of the season.
After getting Thursday's match off, Kundayi Mawema
(Hare, Zimbabwe) returned to the net and stopped ten
shots, including four in consecutive succession in the second half.
Bryant also successfully defended against 11 Assumption corners.
With the victory, the Bulldogs are 5-5 overall and 5-3 in the
Northeast-10. They will look to make it three in a row when they
host St. Anselm's Monday night (7 p.m.).
