Smithfield, R.I.
- The Bryant Field Hockey team continued its stellar play
of late, winning its third straight, 4-1 over Franklin Pierce
College, under the lights Saturday night at the Bryant Turf
Complex.
Co-captain Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth,
Mass.) led the way for the Bulldogs scoring twice. Sadler
responded only seconds after the Ravens took the first half lead,
taking a Shana Libman (Attleboro, Mass.) feed and
burying it past Raven goaltender Amanda Pietraszuk.
Courtney O'Brien (Tewskbury, Mass.) scored the
game-winning goal in the 29th minute, taking a pretty
pass from Caroline Carr (Wrentham, Mass.) and
finding the back of the net.
Bryant shut the Ravens offensive attack down in the second half
and put the game away, scoring twice in a three minute span in the
waning moments.
Libman finished off an odd-man rush scoring her third of the
season. Co-captain Michaela Dwyer (Buskirk, N.Y.)
registered the assist. Then, Sadler found the back of the net with
less than a minute to play, redirecting a Libman shot.
Libman finished the match with a goal and two assists.
Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) was not busy in
net but was there when she needed to be, stopping two shots.
Bryant (3-3, 3-1 NE-10) will go for its fourth straight win when
they host Bentley Wednesday at the Bryant Turf Complex at 4
p.m.
