Smithfield, R.I.
- The Bryant Men's Soccer team and 21st-ranked
UMass-Lowell played a hard-fought, up-and-down game to a scoreless
tie Wednesday at Bulldog Stadium.
Freshman Ryan Aspinall (Clinton, Conn.) had the
game's best chance when he rang one of the post in the
85th minute.
Lowell's Jhony Valencia hit the crossbar just five minutes
before Aspinall's near goal.
Bryant fired three shots in the second overtime period but could
not put any of them away for the victory.
Both teams played exceptional first-half defense, as there were
only six total shots, with the Bulldogs firing four of them at
River Hawk goaltender Ryan Richards. Bryant outshot the River Hawks
13-6 overall.
Matt Amsden (North Providence, R.I.) had the
best opportunity in the first stanza as he beat Richards but
defenseman Rudy Kocandrle was there to prevent a goal.
The Bulldogs (3-1-2, 2-1-2 NE-10) will visit St. Rose Saturday
(2 p.m.).
