2006 Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball
Tournament
SMITHFIELD, RI - The top seeds of the 2006 Northeast-10
Conference Volleyball Tournament held true with a pair of 3-0 wins
during the quarterfinal round Friday evening at the Chace Athletic
Center on the campus of Bryant University.
Top-seed Saint Rose rolled to a 30-19, 30-16, 30-27 win over
eighth-seed Merrimack in the opener with No. 2 seed Bentley
cruising past No. 7 Pace, 30-21, 30-23, 30-18.
In the evening's quarterfinals, Bryant's Jessica
Cegarra had 17 kills and six blocks to lead the Bulldogs
to a 3-1 win over Franklin Pierce. Morgan
Wood hit .385 for the Bulldogs with 12 kills and added
four blocks on the evening. Sophomore Delia Glover
added 23 defensive digs. Nicole Bucholz and
Megan Fedlmeth had 14 and 13 kills
respectively.
In the only upset of the quarterfinal round, No. 5 seed Le Moyne
knocked off No. 4 seed UMass Lowell, 3-1. The Dolphins will
now advance to the semifinals where they will face off with
top-seed Saint Rose on Saturday at 2 pm. Bentley will meet
Bryant in the other semifinal match, also at 2 p.m. with the
championship scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m.
