SMITHFIELD, RI - Bryant
University senior middle hitter Jessica Cegarra (Danville,
NH) hit .750 with 15 kills in leading the host Bulldogs
past Southern Connecticut 3-0 Friday night. Game scores were
30-11, 30-21, 30-13. Cegarra had no errors on 20 total
swings in the match and added a pair of blocks.
Freshman Julie Geonnotti (St. Louis Park,
Minn.) had 10 kills and added a season-high seven service
aces in the match. Bryant had 16 total service aces and hit
.396 offensively as the Bulldogs improved to 18-17 overall and 10-2
in the NE-10.
Southern Connecticut was led by Nekane Mendizabel's seven kills
add two blocks. Lauren Coombs chipped in with five kills and
hit .200 for the match as the Owls out-blocked Bryant 5 to 2 in the
match. Tara Bregensir had three blocks to lead the
visitors.
Bryant will host Pace on Saturday morning starting at 11 a.m.
