SMITHFIELD, RI - Jessica Cegarra (Danville,
NH) and Likica Grceva (Natick, Mass.) led
the way with 19 and 18 kills respectively as the Bryant women's
volleyball team bounced back from Saturday's loss to Saint Rose
with a hard-fought 3-1 win over visiting Le Moyne in Northeast-10
Conference action Sunday at the Chace Athletic Center.
The win improves the Bulldogs to 16-13 overall and 8-7 in the
Northeast-10 Conference.
Le Moyne, led by sophomore Jodi Smith's 14 kills, drops to 16-13
(6-4 NE-10) on the season.
With the match tied, the Bulldogs pulled out a crucial
30-25 win in the third game to swing the momentum back on the home
side after the Dolphins worked hard for a 30-27 win in the second
to tie the match. Le Moyne hit .265 offensively in the second as
Smith tallied five kills in the frame on 5 of 9 hitting with no
errors.
But the Bulldogs would come back strong in the third as Cegarra
and Grceva proved too much up front for the Dolphins. Cegarra
hit .515 in the match with just two errors on 33 swings offensively
and added four blocks. Grceva had 14 digs and assisted on two
blocks. Junior Tiffany Garry (Frankfort, IL)
had 54 assists and recorded four service aces on the day.
Bryant had nine total aces with Delia Glover (Marston
Mills, Mass.) picking up a pair to go with 12 digs.
Bryant will travel to Bentley College on Tuesday night for a
7:30 p.m. match and host Franklin Pierce (4 pm) and Dowling (8 pm)
this Friday night.
