Cegarra Powers Volleyball To 3-0 Win Tuesday Night

BRYANT VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS STONEHILL 3-0
Northeast-10 Women's Volleyball

SMITHFIELD, RI -    Bryant senior middle Jessica Cegarra (Danville, N.H.) led the way with 18 kills and hit .333 for the match in leading the Bryant women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over visiting Stonehill College at the Chace Athletic Center Tuesday evening.  The win improves the Bulldogs to 15-12 overall and 7-0 in the Northeast-10.  Stonehill, led by Heidi Woerner's (North Kingstown, RI) nine kills, drops to 4-14 (2-5 NE-10).   Game scores were 30-27, 30-20, 30-21.

Stonehill started the match strong, racing out to a 16-9 lead in the first game before the Bulldogs climbed back into the match to even the score at 16-16.  Delia Glover (Marston Mills, Mass.) helped key the spurt with solid serving while Cegarra controlled play at the net with three kills and two blocks during the run. 

The Bulldogs would hold on down the stretch to win 30-27 in the first game.  The Bulldogs would break away from the Skyhawks midway through the second to win 30-20.  Katherine Masson (Acushnet, Mass.) and Woerner kept the visitors close with strong play at the net.  The pair would finish with three blocks each on the night.   

Kristen Hordern (Swansea, Mass.) had 22 assists while Rebekah Saunders (Gilford, NH) and Masson each finished with five kills for Stonehill.

Bryant freshman Julie Geonnotti (St. Louis Park, Minn.) had 12 kills and hit .241 with just five errors on 29 swings in the match.  Elysce Tackmann (Riverside, RI), starting the match at setter for the Bulldogs, finished with 38 assists to go with four kills and eight digs. 

Bryant would close out the match with a 30-21 win in the third game to remain tied at first place in the conference standings heading into Saturday's showdown with Saint Rose at the Chace Athletic Center.
