BRYANT FOOTBALL DEFEATS ASSUMPTION, 48-38
La Salle's Lorenzo Perry Rushes for 221 Yards in Bulldogs' Win

Box Score
WORCESTER, MASS  –   Bryant junior running back Lorenzo Perry (Providence / La Salle) rushed for 221 yards on 27 carries and added three touchdowns to help lead the Bryant University football team to a 48-38 win on the road at Assumption College Saturday.  With the win, Bryant improves to 2-1 on the season heading into Saturday's Homecoming Game with Pace at Bulldog Stadium.

Perry got the Bulldogs on the board early, scoring on a 23-yard run on Bryant's first possession of the game.  The extra point attempt was blocked and Assumption took advantage and answered with a seven play drive to take a 7-6 lead after a Shawn Cerrentani 31-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Jon Breuer.

The scoring was a sign of things to come in the first half as both teams combined for 66 points in the first half alone with Bryant heading into the locker room holding a 34-32 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Bulldogs went on top 41-32 as Vincent Norris (Washington, D.C.) caught four-yard touchdown pass from Charles Granatell (Franklin Lakes, NJ) midway through the third. It was the only points of the quarter for either team.

Kevin Anderson (Plainville, CT) gave the Bulldogs a little cushion with a 10-yard TD reception in the fourth making it 48-32.  Assumption would round out the scoring with an Austin Davis score from a yard out.

Perry's 221 yards is the third-most in Bryant history while his three rushing TD's – one of which was a 61-yarder in the second quarter – equals a record held by three other players with three TDs in a game.  Granatell completed 14 of 23 passes for 185 yards and four touchdowns, tying Tony Granieri's school record of four set in 2001.

Davis led the Greyhounds with 157 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the afternoon.  Cerrentani had 197 yards receiving with a touchdown as Assumption drops to 1-2 on the year.
