Bryant University Field Hockey falls to third ranked Bentley 4-1

Bryant drops NE-10 match 4-1 to Nationally ranked Bentley

       

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four different players scored, including junior All-American Mary Rogers in a stretch of 15 minutes around halftime as the Bentley Falcons, ranked third nationally in Division II, topped Bryant University, 4-1, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey at Bentley Wednesday evening. 
                Bryant, continuing a string of alternating wins and losses, maintained a 1-0 lead for much of the first half on the strength of a goal by junior Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, MA) just 2:33 into the contest.
        The Falcons ended a string of 95 consecutive scoreless minutes with 9:35 left in the first half, with junior Amanda Deppe (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) tallying her first of the season, off a Rogers' assist.
        The game-winner was scored 11 seconds before the halftime break, junior Kristen Allen (Portland, ME) netting the game-winner and sophomore Cristina Sergi (Weston, MA) picking up the assist.
        Bentley, 4-1 overall and in the NE-10, broke it open with two goals in the first five minutes of the second half. Junior All-American Lindsey Harrington (Atkinson, NH) deflected a Rogers' shot off a penalty corner for her fourth of the year, and Rogers wrapped up the scoring with her fifth. 
        The Bulldogs were outshot (22-6) and only had  four penalty corners.  Sophomore Kasey Kortz (Louisville, Ky.) recorded 10 saves for the Bulldogs (3-4, 2-3 NE-10).
        Bryant returns to action Saturday afternoon hosting Saint Michael's at 1:00pm.
